This week,
a few more fun photos from my trip to North Dakota in September at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

I was sitting on a park bench trying to get photos of prairie dogs and about 10 buffalo came right over to me making them easy photo targets... (Image #9007)

This curious baby buffalo wasn't too sure about me... (Image #9020)

After the buffalo moved along, I was finally able to get a nice photo of a prairie dog. (Image #9065)

The morning I was scheduled to fly home, I had planned to wake up early to try to get some photos at the "Painted Canyon" overlook at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

It was about 5:30am, and I was still waking up when I saw a flash of lightning followed by thunder out the hotel window. At first I was a little disappointed that my sunrise photo would be a wash... but then realized I may have a chance to capture lightning photos!!

So I headed out to the overlook. Here is a buffalo in the glow of the sunrise and behind me where the storm was still gathering... (Image #9311)

...A rainbow was forming over the Painted Canyon overlook at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The colors were Amazing in the morning sun. (Image #9348)

As I turned a little more to my left, I saw and photographed... well, let me just say this... you will not want to miss Monday's photo - it's definitely one of a kind!

This week, I'll be sharing photos and videos (one with lots of movement) of a buffalo herd I was watching early one morning in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

It was a peaceful early morning drive on their wildlife loop road when I saw the herd, so I thought I'd get out and take some photos AND videos (which I've been trying out more and more...).

Here is a video of the h...

This week's photos, thanks to a comment on Facebook from one of my followers, are called Wild and Free.

Last week I shared an experience I had with some wild horses on North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park's wildlife loop road. As I continued my drive along the road, I met up with a herd of wild horses.

And, I took this video using my camera of the wild horse herd http://youtu.be/yTU...

This week's photos:

A few weeks ago, I drove through North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park in hopes of seeing wild horses... About half way around their wildlife loop drive, I ran across this momma horse and her baby...

They walked right over to where I was... I tried to get close up pictures of the pony, but she kept hiding behind her mom...

Finally, she looked right at me as if she ...

Green Sea Turtles

September 13, 2013
For the past few months, I've been posting daily photos on my Wallner Photography Facebook page. Stop on by and "like" my page.

This week, I shared green sea turtle photos taken at Kaloko-Honokohau Historic Site on the Big Island, Hawaii, this past summer.

The turtles were eating things on the bottom and in the rocks along the shoreline. They would pause in their eating for some air and stick their noses out of the water. And, after all that work at getting food, they'd then fall asleep on...

Why You Should Always Ask for a Window Seat

February 26, 2013

For those of you who don’t know, I grew up around planes since my dad was a pilot. Whether I’m in a piper cub, helicopter, jet liner or other air vehicle, I always try to get a window seat.

I don’t mind if plane parts or the sides of the windows are in my photographs. I think it adds the element that I enjoy so much – flying.

One of the biggest challenges of taking photographs from an airplane is making sure the horizon is level, which gives your photo ...

People’s Choice Award

December 3, 2012

This past weekend I had the opportunity to show and sell my photographs at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. It was a very humbling experience to set up my table next to more than 40 talented artists and photographers.

As a member of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Photographers’ Society, this was my first time showing and selling my photographs at this annual event. I enjoyed every minute!

Each year, the event also conducts a “People’s Choice” award (...
